AMD and NVIDIA Unveil Two Competing Sub-$250 Graphics Cards

Both AMD and NVIDIA have announced graphics card for $249 today. AMD has introduced 1GB ATI Radeon HD 4890 graphics card with 850MHz core clock speed and 950MHz memory clock speed. Whereas, NVIDIA announced 896MB NVIDIA GeForce GTX 275 with 1404MHz processor clock speed and 1134MHz memory clock speed.

Both the cards will support vendor specify multicard technology, Crossfire for ATI and SLI for NVIDIA. The ATI Radeon HD 4890 will have GDDR5 video memory and it is shipping now. The NVIDIA GeForce will have GDDR3 memory and it will ship on 14th April. Many hardware testing website like ExtremeTech and AnandTech have performed benchmarks on both the card, but no one found a clear winner.
