CNET is reporting that Intel will add five new chips to its laptop lineup. All the processors except Celeron 900 are designed for thin and light notebooks. The top-of-line 2.53GHz Core 2 Duo SP9600 will have 6MB of L2 cache, 1066MHz FSB and 25W TDP. It will be priced $316. This processor is aimed at thin and light notebooks, as its TDP is less than 35W found normally on laptop class processors.

The next three processors in the lineup are designed for ultrathin and ultralight notebooks like MacBook air. The first processor here is 2.13GHz Core 2 Duo SL9600 priced $316 and it comes with 6MB L2 cache, 1066MHz FSB and 17W TDP. The second processor 1.60GHz Core 2 Duo SU9600 is priced $289 and it features 3MB of L2 cache, 800MHz FSB and just 10W TDP. The last processor in this lineup is single core 1.4GHz SU3500 that has just 5.5W TDP. It is priced $262 and features 3MB L2 cache and 800Mhz FSB. The SU3500 is aimed at laptops as small as netbooks but with better performance.

The last processor that Intel will announce is a Celeron chip ICP900 designed for low-end notebooks. The ICP900 is a single core processor priced $70 and it comes with 2.2Ghz speed, 1MB L2 cache, 800MHz FSB and 32W TDP.  Intel will start shipping the new laptop processor on March 30, 2009.
