It was rumored that AT&T has delayed introduction of webOS based Pre and Pixi handsets from Palm, but Palm announced at CTIA that Palm Pre Plus and Palm Pixi Plus Will be available for AT&T customers in coming month. Still no official date for the launch and it looks like it won’t ship by end of March as was reported earlier this year.

“AT&T and Palm have a history of smartphone leadership, and today’s announcement is a significant milestone for us,” said Jon Rubinstein, Palm chairman and chief executive officer. “With Palm webOS phones coming to AT&T, Palm can help most anyone in the United States stay connected so they never miss a thing.”

The Pre Plus features a slider keyboard, larger touchscreen and high performance processor. Whereas, the Pixi Plus comes with a full QWERTY keyboard and is the thinnest Palm phone to date. Both the phones will have same hardware specifications as the once available on Verizon network now, except support for GSM and HSPA network in place of CDMA network.

Even though the announcement is good news for Palm, but we feel like it’s already too late for the company. Sales of the much hyped webOS devices have been falling since launch last year, even after nation’s biggest wireless carrier Verizon started selling the Pre Plus and Pixi Plus earlier this year. And it will also be hard for Palm to get any publicity on AT&T, as the iPhone is exclusively available on AT&T’s network.

Palm Pre Plus and Palm Pixi Plus will be available in AT&T stores and online at www.wireless.att.com in the coming months for $149.99 and $49.99, respectively, with a two-year service agreement and after a $100 mail-in rebate.
