Sprint Uses iPhone to Promote Their WiMAX NetworkSubmitted by lalit on March 17, 2010 - 11:24am.
Sprint has posted a new promo video for its Overdrive portable WiFi hotspot that supports Sprint’s 3G/4G network. The promo uses an iPhone to highlight WiMAX speed compared to 3G speed on AT&T’s network. The video shows an iPhone user trying to access video on AT&T’s 3G network, but when he uses WiFi network via Sprint’s Overdrive hotspot his video loads immediately. The fine print in the promo says “based on download speed comparison of 3G’s 600 Kbps vs. 4G’s 6 Mbps. Industry avg. 3G speed (600 Kbps – 1.7 Mbps); 4G avg. speeds (3-6Mbps).” A company is in trouble when they use other company’s hot selling product to highlight their own service. More than AT&T’s slower network this promo highlights lack of iPhone on Sprint’s network.
