New Mac Pro the Fastest Mac Ever

Apple released their new Mac Pro based on Nehalem processor earlier this month and the company claimed that the new desktops were twice as powerful as previous generation. The CineBench 10 test done on the latest Mac Pro models show that they are definitely the fastest Mac desktops ever, but it also shows that they are not twice as fast as previous generation Mac Pro.

The top of the line 8-core 2.93 GHz Mac Pro outperformed it predecessor 3.2GHz 8-core model by about 20 percent. Even the mid-range 8-core 2.66GHz Mac Pro performed better than previous generation top of the line 3.2GHz model. The lower-end 8-core 2.26GHz outperformed previous generation mid-range 2.8Ghz 8-core Mac Pro model. The quad-core 2.66Ghz base model was just 20 percent slower than previous generation 8-core 2.8GHz model.

The CineBench 10 benchmark shows that the new Intel Nehalem processors are definitely better than previous generation Intel processors. If only Apple would have given better graphics card options with the latest Mac Pro, it would have become the ultimate desktop ever to buy. We seriously don’t understand why Apple has selected NVIDIA GeForce GT 120 graphics card and not GTS 250 graphics card. Also why not offer a 1GB graphics card option?
