Last week, Sony officially announced PlayStation Move motion controller and PlayStation Move sub-controller for PS3. The Move controller will ship in fall 2010 and should be priced under $100 as a starter kit that will include PlayStation Eye camera, both the motion controllers and a game. The combination of the PS3 system and PlayStation Eye camera detects the precise movement, angle and absolute position in 3D space of PlayStation Move controller, allowing users to intuitively play the game as if they themselves are within the game.

According to Sony, PlayStation Move motion controller delivers unmatched accuracy through its advanced  motion sensors, including a three-axis gyroscope, a three-axis accelerometer, and a terrestrial magnetic field sensor, as well as a color-changing sphere that is tracked by PlayStation Eye camera. PlayStation Move sub-controller expands the game play options that PlayStation Move games can offer. The sub-controller comes with an analog stick and directional buttons that allow users to easily control the game when moving characters or choosing a direction.

The controllers will come with built-in lithium ion rechargeable battery and Bluetooth technology for wireless gaming. Sony says 36 third party developers and publishers have decided to support PlayStation Move platform. The company demoed the new controllers on games like first person shooter Secom and sword and shield game Gladiator.

Engadget has posted hands-on experience with the new Move controllers. There initial impression is that the controllers are lighter than Wii controllers and offer subtle vibration. There is a feeling of lag, which is expected with a pre-alpha software. Overall, the controllers are pretty accurate and the experience should improve before they are shipped in fall 2010.

We have added two videos posted by Engadget showing the Move controllers in action.
