Apple to Introduce Premium App Store Along with iPhone 3.0Submitted by lalit on March 14, 2009 - 5:30pm.
Apple has sent out invitation for its upcoming 17th March iPhone OS 3.0 event, where the company will showcase their latest iPhone OS 3.0 as well as the new iPhone SDK. However, according to Wired that won’t be all, they have heard rumors that Apple will also introduce a “Premium” App Store section that will feature applications priced above $20. Wired says that the premium section will be focused on games and software programs that cost $20 or more, and require more resources to be developed. This change will make App Store more friendly to game publishers and enterprise software companies such as SAP, whose software titles can get lost in the clutter of free and $1 applications. By adding a premium section Apple could offer a channel for more complex applications that require more investment, large developer group and longer development time. This will encourage developers to work on more advanced applications that will bring more functionality to the iPhone platform.
