Samsung Announces S5600 and S5230 Touchscreen Phones

Samsung today added two new phones to its touchscreen lineup. The first phone S5600 is a slick touchscreen phone with 2.8-inch 240 x 320 resolution screen, 3-megapixel camera, 80MB of onboard memory, accelerometer, quad band GSM (850/900/1800/1900MHz), dual-band UMTS (900/2100Mhz), Bluetooth and microSD card slot. The phone uses Samsung’s TouchWiz user interface for intuitive navigation and web browsing. It also features Samsung’s Gesture Lock feature, which allows users to unlock the phone with a drawn letter on the display screen. No pricing information is available, but it will be available in Europe by end of May 2009.

The second phone S5230 is super-thin touchscreen phone that is just 0.5-inch thick. The phone will have 3.0-inch touchscreen, 3-megapixel camera, 50MB onboard storage, microSD card slot, quad-band GSM/EDGE (850/900/1800/1900MHz) and Bluetooth.  There will be no 3G support for the S5230, however it will use the same TouchWiz user interface. The phone will ship throughout Europe in April 2009 for unknown price.
