LG today announced that it has received one million pre-orders worldwide for its upcoming KM900 Arena smartphone. Arena is LG new flagship touchscreen phone that was announced last month at Mobile World Congress. The phone features a 3-inch high-resolution 800 x 480 touchscreen, 5-megapixel camera, 8GB on-board memory, 3G, WiFi, GPS and Bluetooth.

The pre-orders for Arena broke LG’s previous record of 500,000 advance purchases set by Chocolate handset that sold approximately 20 million handsets. If LG ships all the pre-orders on the first days it could also break iPhone 3G’s record of selling one million handsets in less than 3 days. The difference will be that iPhone was available in 21 countries only, while LG Arena will ship around the world by end of first quarter of 2009.
