Rumor Checklist for March 2nd Apple Press EventSubmitted by lalit on March 3, 2011 - 10:59am.
Before the March 2nd Apple press event many rumors were floating around the blogosphere about what Apple will announce at the event, which was mainly aimed at iPad. There were four main rumors about the event including iPad 2 launch, MobileMe update, iOS 5 introduction and smaller/cheaper iPhone announcement. Out of the four rumors only one came true the iPad 2 launch. Almost all the rumors about iPad 2 came true, as it comes with dual core A5 processor, improved graphics (SGX543), VGA front camera, 720p back camera, thinner and lighter design. However, some of the rumors like Qualcomm multimode CDMA/GSM chip support and RFID integration didn’t come true. Apple might be using the multimode CDMA/GSM chip, but there will be two separate models for AT&T and Verizon. Apple didn’t announce anything about MobileMe or cheaper iPhone, but they talked about iOS. Yes, it was iOS 4.3 and not iOS 5. iOS 4.3 will be bringing features like improved Safari performance with Nitro JavaScript engine, iTunes home sharing, AirPlay improvements, iPad mute and rotation switch preference, and personal Hotspot. Overall, the March 2nd Apple event was all about iPad 2, even the iOS 4.3 announcement was related to iPad 2 and new features / applications it will bring on March 11th.
