Yesterday, Intel talked about partnerships with Orange in UK and France and now Orange is announcing the fruits of that partnership with an Orange branded Intel Atom based smartphone for European market. The handset is currently codenamed ‘Orange Santa Clara’ and comes with 1.6GHz Intel Atom Z2460 processor, 1GB RAM, 16GB memory4-inch (1024 x 600) screen, 8-megpixel camera, 1080p video recording, WiFi, 3G HSPA+ and Bluetooth.

Orange is specially highlighting the power efficiency and camera performance in their press release. The camera can take up to 10fps in continuous mode and the battery can last up to 14 days in standby mode and offer 8 hours of 3G talk time. At launch, the Orange smartphone will run Android’s Gingerbread platform with a planned upgrade to Android’s Ice Cream Sandwich platform shortly thereafter.

Orange will ship the Intel Atom based handset in Q2 2012. Orange claims that this device pushes the boundaries of innovation and provides consumers with premium experiences at affordable prices. So, we should see very aggressive price point.
