Apple updated its productivity suite at Macworld in January 2009 and added number of revolutionary new features. The Keynote ‘09 adds advanced object transitions, Magic Move and sophisticated animations just by applying a simple transition. Pages ’09 features Full Screen view that helps you focus on your writing and an outline mode to organize your thoughts. The last application in iWork suite, Numbers ’09 introduces a quick way to group and summarize data and a simplified way to create complex formulas.
Along with the desktop applications, Apple also introduced public beta, a new service Apple is developing to share iWork ’09 documents online. The service allows you to upload your documents and invite others to view it online. Viewers can provide comments and notes, and download a copy of your document in iWork, Microsoft Office or PDF formats.
Reviews for the iWork ’09 have been largely very positive and most reviewers agree that the new features and easy to access user interface makes the iWork one of the best office suite on the Mac. We agree whole heartily with PC Mag blog that, “iWork 08 users will find a more functional, more compatible Numbers, some cool new effects in Keynote, and a bunch of new templates. Serious business users probably won’t find it a replacement for Microsoft Office, although even for them it might be worthwhile just to get Keynote, which remains incredibly impressive. But most home users don’t need all the power – what they want is something that is easy to use and makes their work look great. That’s what iWork delivers”
