China Times is reporting they have heard from supply chain sources that Apple has placed orders for iPad 3 Retina display panels with Samsung and LG. It has been rumored for quite sometime that Apple will be using IGZO LCD display panels from Sharp, but the China Times says that Apple has ordered 65 million Retina display panels for this year’s iPad manufacturing from Samsung and LG.

This indicates that Apple aims to ship 65 million iPad 3 units this year brining the average monthly shipment to about 6.5 million units. The news site also says that both Samsung and LG have started mass production of Retina displays and iPad 3 mass production has also started.
