With iPad 2 launch closing in more and more iPad rumors are circulating around the blogosphere. Japanese blog Macotakara posted today that Apple is planning a special event at end of this month for iPad 2 launch. The next gen iPad will be announced in February end, but will ship in March because of Chinese New Year holidays till February 17, which would affect production of the new iPad. Macotakara also posted an image of iPad front glass that Apple will use on iPad 2.

iLounge also added their two cents to iPad 2 rumors. According to Jeremy Horwitz of iLounge, a previously accurate source has provided iLounge with following details about iPad development:

RFID/NFC Accessories: According to our source, Apple is actively developing new accessories that will communicate with the near-filed radio chips reportedly built into new iPads and iPhones.

A New Body Material: While our source urges caution on this point, it’s possible that the company will use a new material similar to carbon fiber rather than aluminum for upcoming iPads. Apple has in the past worked simultaneously on more than one version of a device enclosure before making a late-stage switch to another, but it is apparently testing these new shells now in the hopes of reducing the weight of iPads.

The 7-inch iPad Lives: Our source notes that a key iPad, iPhone, and iPod component provider has been asked by Apple to develop a part for use in a seven-inch iPad. Our source believes that this part is for a new version of the device that is still in development, and doesn’t know whether it will go into production.

When we contacted our sources about these rumors they said – Apple is developing RFID/NFC technology and iPad 2 might be the first device to get it. Second, Apple is looking to decrease weight of iPad, but won’t use carbon fiber because of its environmental impact and cost. Third, Apple has been working on multiple screen size for many years, but we won’t see them on the market any time soon. Apple is currently focused on 10-inch screen for consumers.

Finally the last rumor comes from MacRumors, they twitted the following:

Rumor we can’t confirm: Apple said to have shot iPad 2 commercial in LA this week, ad demos Facetime on iPad.

We don’t have any information about this commercial, but if Apple were planning to announce iPad 2 by end of February they would have definitely shot a commercial for the launch.
