Nikon today announced eight new point-and-shoot cameras that will ship before March 2009. The top of the line CoolPix P90 has 12.1-megapixel sensor, 24X (26-624mm) ultra zoom, 15fps burst mode, 3-inch LCD screen, image stabilization, motion detection, face detection and ISO up to 6400. The camera will ship in March for $399.
The second camera in the lineup is a Coolpix L100 with 10-megapixel sensor, 15X zoom, 3-inch LCD screen, 13fps burst mode, image stabilization, motion detection and face detection. It will also ship in March for $279. Coolpix L20 is the second L-series camera that will come with 10 megapixel sensor, 3.6X zoom, 3-inch LCD screen, auto scene selection and motion detection. The camera will require AA batteries and will cost $129. The last L-series camera L19 is an 8-megapixel camera with 3.6X zoom, 2.7-inch LCD screen, auto scene selection and motion detection. It will also require AA batteries and will be price $105. The L20 will ship in Bright Red color and the L19 will ship in Bright silver color.
In the S-series, Coolpix S230 and S220 both come with 10-megapixel sensor, touchscreen controls, image stabilization, auto scene selection and blink detection. Both the cameras are shipping now in various colors. The $299 S230 will have a 3-inch touchscreen and ISO up to 2000, whereas the $149 S220 will only have 2.5-inch screen and lower ISO sensitivity. The third camera in S-series is Coolpix S-630 that will feature 12-megapixel sensor, 7x zoom, 2.7-inch LCD screen, 11 fps burst mode, image stabilization, blink detection and ISO sensitivity up to 6400. The camera is available now in five colors for $279. The last camera that Nikon announced today is Coolpix S620 that will have 12.2-megapixel sensor, 4x zoom, subject tracking, motion detection, blink detection, ISO up to 6400 and 0.7-second startup time. It is also available now in five colors for $269.
