Though smartphones have been on the market for almost a decade, but the actually smartphone race started in 2007 when Apple introduced the iconic iPhone. Since 2007 number of smartphone models available on market and smartphone adoption rate has gone up by 10 times. There are hundreds of smartphones available on the market, but the list below includes cream of the crop – The 5 best smartphone available today:

Apple iPhone 4: The iPhone started the race in 2007 and after four years is still in the lead position. When it comes to combination of features, easy of use and performance, iPhone is one of the best smartphone on the market today. Once you hold the iPhone 4 in your hand every other smartphone feels cheap in comparison. Engadget’s Joshua Topolsky wrote in his review “We're not going to beat around the bush -- in our approximation, the iPhone 4 is the best smartphone on the market right now.” When it comes to iPhone 4 reviews, every reviewer has the same opinion. And now the iPhone will also be available on Verizon doing away with one of the biggest complains about AT&T’s network. You can get the iPhone 4 on Apple’s website for $199 with two year contract.

Samsung Epic 4G: This Galaxy S series smartphone is the second Sprint phone bringing WiMAX support. And with its combination of 4-inch AMOLED screen and slide-out QWERTY keyboard beats the previous king of the Sprint hill HTC EVO 4G. The only problem with the handset is that it’s still shipping with Android 2.1 when Google has already released Android 2.3. Nicole Lee of CNET wrote, “The Samsung Epic 4G is a multimedia powerhouse with features the other Galaxy S phones don't have. Motorola Droid X: Verizon’s Android smartphone lineup is lead by Droid X featuring 4.3-inch touchscreen and speedy 1GHz processor. Sascha Segan of PC Mag wrote in his review “The Motorola Droid X takes the crown for the most powerful Android smartphone away from the HTC Droid Incredible.” It’s the top selling smartphone on Verizon. HTC Droid Incredible: Before Droid X and Samsung Galaxy S phones came along the Droid Incredible was the best Android handset on the market and is still among the best. The Incredible come with 3.7-inch screen, 8GB onboard storage and 8-megapixel camera. Samsung Focus: Many would argue that Windows Phone 7 is a incompletely mobile OS with many features missing, but the fact is that it’s the first right step Microsoft has taken in many years.
