Apple Planning to Launch 22-inch Touchscreen iMac This YearSubmitted by lalit on January 18, 2010 - 10:02am.
Chinese language news site Commercial Times is reporting that Apple is planning to launch a 22-inch touch enabled all-in-one PC in 2010, in addition to the current non-touch 21.5-inch and 27-inch iMac models. According to the news website, Quanta will produce the new touchscreen iMac for Apple and Sintek Photronic will supply the touchscreen panels for the 22-inch model. No other information was provided, like what kind of touchscreen panel Apple will use on the iMac model. It can be very costly to use capacitive touch technology that is currently used on the iPhone, on a bigger screen size. However, other touchscreen technologies like resistive touch aren’t as accurate and responsive as the capacitive touchscreen. It is rumored that Apple will have a press event later this month to introduce a 10-inch touchscreen tablet and the event will be mobile related only, so it highly unlikely that Apple will announce the touchscreen iMac at this event.
