All Things Digital is reporting that Apple will have a major product announcement on Wednesday, January 27th and not January 26th as was previously rumored. John Paczkowski wrote on the website “Sources in a position to know tell me Apple is indeed planning a media event later this month at which the company will announce a major new product.” The event will take place at Yerba Buena Center for the Arts in San Francisco.

Also, The Wall Street Journal reported yesterday that Apple will unveil a new multimedia tablet device later this month, but will ship it in March. According to the news website, the new product will come with a 10 to 11-inch touchscreen and Apple was working on two different material finishes for the device. However, it’s not know whether Apple was just testing the finishes or planning to release two different versions of the tablet.

Along with the above two news, former Google China President Kai-fu Lee wrote on his 163 mini blog that one of his executive friend says the Apple tablet has a 10-inch touchscreen and resembles a “large iPhone”, but it will feature an amazing new interface and include significant e-book component. He also added that the tablet has a camera on front for video chatting and supports multitouch.

It is also rumored that Apple is preparing iPhone OS 4.0 Beta and accompanying SDK for developers, which will offer a simulator specifically for the tablet. The new SDK will support the new UI that Apple has developed for the tablet and make it easier for developers to port their application to upcoming tablet. In fact, Coursesmart, a joint venture of five textbook publishers will be showcasing their textbook on tablet concept at CES 2010. The concept video which we have added below, is clearly developed using iPhone UI elements, but for a tablet form factor with bigger screen.

With so many reputable sources now offering details about the upcoming Apple tablet, it is almost certain that Apple will soon launch the new tablet.
